Project Idea
This project aims to enhance PNU’s 5-meter radio telescope by implementing adual-frequency feed system capable of receiving both the 1420 MHz hydrogen line and 20–30 MHz radio bursts from Jupiter and Io. The system is designed to TL-SDR Blog V4 and simulated using MATLAB. The system is currently in the integrate a horn antenna for high frequencies and a dipole antenna for low frequencies at the same focal point. Signal processing is handled through the Rtheoretical evaluation and simulation phase and is expected to expand the telescope’s research and educational capabilities without requiring structural modifications.
01
The Beginning
The idea started from the goal of expanding the capabilities of PNU’s 5-meter Radio Telescope by allowing it to receive multiple frequency ranges using a Dual-Frequency Feed.
02
The Idea
The system enables reception of the 1420 MHz Hydrogen Line and 20–30 MHz Radio Bursts using a Horn Antenna and Dipole Antenna, without structural modifications to the telescope.
03
The Experience
We started by designing a Dual-Frequency Feed that places the Horn Antenna and Dipole Antenna at the Same Focal Point. Then, RTL-SDR Blog V4 was selected for signal processing, while MATLAB was used to simulate and evaluate the system.
