Project Idea
This project aims to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) inradio telescopes through digital signal filtering. A 50 Hz sine wave representing a clean astronomical signal was degrade the accuracy of telescope data. To suppress the interferesimulated and combined with artificial interference from GSM (200 Hz), LTE (300 Hz), and WiFi (400 Hz), which can nce, three Butterworth band-stop filters were designed, each targeting a specific frequency. MATLAB simulations demonstrated a 96% reduction in noise power, with the filtered output closely matching the original signal. This software-based approach enhances radio telescope performance without the need for physical shielding, offering a practical solution for modern radio astronomy .
01
The Beginning
The idea started from the problem of EMI, which interferes with astronomical signals and affects Radio Telescope data accuracy. We proposed Digital Signal Filtering to remove the interference.
02
The Idea
The project provides a software-based method that reduces Noise by up to 96% using Butterworth Band-Stop Filters, without requiring Physical Shielding.
03
The Experience
We simulated a 50 Hz signal and added GSM, LTE, and WiFi interference. Then, we designed three Butterworth Band-Stop Filters in MATLAB and tested their performance, achieving a digital model with a 96% reduction in Noise Power.
